Getting Started

Quick Start: Your First Campaign

This guide walks you through the steps to launch your first outbound campaign with SIP Caller. Each step links to the detailed documentation, in case you need more information.

Before you start

You will need:

  • A SIP Caller account. If you don't have one yet, you can sign up and start a free trial.
  • Access to the administration of your phone system, to create an extension for SIP Caller.
  • A few phone numbers to call. For your first test, we recommend including your own phone number.

Step 1: Connect your phone system

SIP Caller makes calls through your phone system, connecting to it as a remote extension. Create an extension for SIP Caller in your phone system, and then register the phone system in the Web Console, from "Phone Systems" > "Register".

Follow the guide for your phone system: 3CX, FreePBX / Asterisk, Yeastar, or a generic SIP account. See Phone Systems for the network requirements when your phone system is on-premise.

Step 2: Decide what happens when a call is answered

Choose how SIP Caller interacts with your contacts:

  • With a call flow: the easiest way to start is creating a call flow from a template, from "Call Flows" > "Create from template". For example, the Play Prompt template plays a message, and the Transfer Call template sends the call to a queue or an extension of your phone system. See Call Flows for all the options.
  • With an AI agent: an AI conversational agent can talk naturally with your contacts, and collect the information you need.

Step 3: Create the campaign

Go to "Campaigns" and click "Create". Enter a name, and select the phone system and extension to use, the dialer mode, the working times, and the call flow or AI agent created in the previous step. See Create a Campaign for a description of every setting.

If you're not sure which dialer mode to use, start with Power Dialer mode for automated messages, or with Predictive Dialer mode when calls are connected to your agents.

Step 4: Add the numbers to call

Add the numbers to call, by uploading a CSV file, typing them in a text box, or copying them from a contact list. See Add Numbers to a Campaign.

Start small: a campaign with just a few numbers, including your own, lets you hear exactly what your contacts will hear, and check that everything works as expected before calling all your contacts.

Step 5: Activate the campaign

From the campaign list, activate the campaign. SIP Caller validates its settings, and starts calling during the configured working times. You can pause, resume or cancel the campaign at any time. See Manage Campaigns.

Step 6: Review the results

Follow the progress of your campaign from the Dashboard, and check the result of every call in the Reports. Use the Call Details Report to review each call attempt, including the answer type and the inputs of your contacts.

If calls are not being made as expected, see Troubleshooting.
